The 5 Elements of Reiki

These deceptively simple reiki precepts form the basis of the teachings and can be chanted, written or read every day.

Reiki Meditations

Tenohira

Shirushi and Jumon

Reiju and Attunements

A number of techniques are explored including Kokyû Hô in order to connect to Reiki energy

This forms the hands on healing element which Reiki is most famous for in the West

The Reiki symbols and mantras can be used in a number of ways

These transmissions are gifted from the teacher to the practitioner and are key to passing on the teachings in person

Mikao Usui, a Japanese man developed the system of Reiki in the early 1900's based on his unique experiences. Throughout the last 100 years these 5 elements have remained consistent in the Reiki teachings

REIKI PRECEPTS

JUST FOR TODAY
DO NOT BE ANGRY
DO NOT worry
Be grateful
be true to your way and your being
be kind to yourself and others

What is Reiki?

REIKI CAN BE EXPLAINED AS A SYSTEM OR PRACTICE OF REIKI AND IT CAN ALSO BE EXPLAINED AS THE ENERGY OF REIKI.

The energy of Reiki can be described as our true nature, inner light, spiritual energy, source energy, or what ever term you best resonate with. This innate brightness can become covered up with layers upon layers of fears, worries and general life busy-ness which dims us down.

A teacher of mine once used the analogy as a lightbulb that is switched on but becomes dimmed by the cloth from the lampshade. Not matter how many layers are added to the lampshade the actual lightbulb was always shining but it became more difficult to see.

As it is with life. We can become bogged down by layers of stress and responsibilities and worries but beneath it all our inner light is always shining. We are the light, we are the Reiki. This is the space from which we access our intuition, and our deepest layers of wisdom.

The system of Reiki is in essence a series of tools that allow us to peel back the layers of the lampshades so that we can more easily see and connect to our own inner light, that which has always been within us and has never left us. So that we can connect to this way of being ALL the time, not just when we are having a Reiki treatment.

By connecting to our own inner light we start to feel more joyfulness, connectedness, relaxed, kinder and compassion. This in turn allows us spread more joyfulness, kindness and compassion to the world around us.

As a practitioner, the more we can connect to our own inner Reiki the more we can hold space to allow others to peel back their own layers and rediscover and facilitate their own healing.

Cotswolds Immersion

A Reiki lineage is an energetic family tree - the ancestry of our practice. All Reiki Practitioners can trace their roots back to Mikao Usui who founded the System of Reiki in the 1920s.

Kirsteen trained as a teacher in both the Western and Japanese Usui Reiki traditions. Both have wonderful benefits to support the Reiki practice - where the Western lineage (transplanted from Japan to Hawaii in 1936 by Hayashi and Takata) focuses on healing as a complementary therapy, the Japanese lineage (which stayed in Japan until the late 1980s) focuses primarily on meditation and spiritual growth.

The two together demonstrate the full scope of this beautiful system, each carrying rich information and possibility for our journeys of healing and awakening. Kirsteen teaches both Eastern + Western schools of thought together on her courses.
